Introduction

The Japanese Experiment Module, “Kibo”, was launched by Space Shuttle last March and June respectively and experiments in “ Kibo” Pressurized Module (PM) have been commenced since last August. It was the long-waited moment for many people, including the researchers preparing for experiments and engineers engaging in the development of experimental equipments, who had been involved in preparation for the utilization. Besides, astronaut Wakata will make three-month long term stay aboard the ISS, the first-time long-stay as a Japanese astronaut. He will assemble the “Exposed Facility (EF)” and commence experiments utilizing the exposure space environment next year. From now on, utilization in various fields including scientific research, application study for industry, space medicine research, education and arts and social sciences will be developed.
In this workshop, assembling situation of “Kibo” and the preliminary report on the experimental result will be introduced by Hi-Definition video and in addition, the program introduces scientific outputs, which is expected by experiments in “Kibo”, and the achievements closely related to our daily life. Further, the talk, how the space medicine research results will be utilized in life on the earth etc., is now being planned. Your participation in the workshop is highly appreciated.
